I said to Ibn ‘Umar: is the deceased tormented because of the weeping of this living one? He said: ‘Umar narrated to me from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I did not lie when narrating from ʿUmar, and ʿUmar did not lie when narrating from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.  

أحمد:٢٦٤حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ

عَنْ قَزَعَةَ قَالَقُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ يُعَذِّبُ اللهُ هَذَا الْمَيِّتَ بِبُكَاءِ هَذَا الْحَيِّ؟ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَا كَذَبْتُ عَلَى عُمَرَ وَلا كَذَبَ عُمَرُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ
