ahmad:20416 – Yazīd > Hammām > Qatādah > al-Ḥasaniʿan Abū Bakarah

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "None of you should say, 'I have fasted the entire month of Ramadan' or 'I have observed all of its fasts.'"

Al-Hasan and Yazid both said once: "Qatadah said: 'Only Allah knows, but I fear for His Ummah whether there should necessarily be someone that is either neglectful or complacent.'"  

أحمد:٢٠٤١٦ – حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِعَنْ أَبِي بَكَرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ قُمْتُ رَمَضَانَ كُلَّهُ وَلَا صُمْتُهُ كُلَّهُ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ وقَالَ يَزِيدُ مَرَّةً قَالَ قَتَادَةُ اللهُ أَعْلَمُ أَخَافَ عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ التَّزْكِيَةَ أَوْ لَا بُدَّ مِنْ رَاقِدٍ أَوْ غَافِلٍ ؟

'I fasted Ramadan' or 'I prayed Qiyam throughout the whole month."' I do not know whether he dislike self-praise or he said: "Inevitably there will be heedlessness and sleep." (Da 'if)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ صُمْتُ رَمَضَانَ وَلاَ قُمْتُهُ كُلَّهُ وَلاَ أَدْرِي كَرِهَ التَّزْكِيَةَ أَوْ قَالَ لاَ بُدَّ مِنْ غَفْلَةٍ وَرَقْدَةٍ اللَّفْظُ لِعُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ  

abudawud:2415 – Musaddad > Yaḥyá > al-Muhallab b. Abū Ḥabībah > al-Ḥasan > Abū Bakrah

The Prophet ﷺ said: One of you should not say: I fasted the whole of Ramadan, and I prayed during the night in the whole of Ramadan. I do not know whether he disliked the purification; or he (the narrator) said: He must have slept a little and taken rest.  

أبو داود:٢٤١٥ – حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنِ الْمُهَلَّبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِنِّي صُمْتُ رَمَضَانَ كُلَّهُ وَ قُمْتُهُ كُلَّهُ فَلاَ أَدْرِي أَكَرِهَ التَّزْكِيَةَ أَوْ قَالَ لاَ بُدَّ مِنْ نَوْمَةٍ أَوْ رَقْدَةٍ  

ahmad:20521 – Bahz > Hammām > Qatādah > al-Ḥasan > Abū Bakarah

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should say, 'I have observed the entirety of Ramadan.'" Qatadah said, "Allah knows best. I fear that it may be considered boasting against His Ummah or it may be said, 'There must be a slumbering or an ignorant person.'"  

أحمد:٢٠٥٢١ – حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ أَخْبَرَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكَرَةَ
