[Machine] I entered upon the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , while he was using the tooth stick (siwak). He had placed one end of the siwak on his tongue and he was moving it upwards. Hammād described that it appeared as if he was raising the siwak. Hammād said that Ghaylān described to us that he would move the siwak up and down [in his mouth].  

أحمد:١٩٧٣٧حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا غَيْلَانُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَسْتَاكُ وَهُوَ وَاضِعٌ طَرَفَ السِّوَاكِ عَلَى لِسَانِهِ يَسْتَنُّ إِلَى فَوْقَ فَوَصَفَ حَمَّادٌ كَأَنَّهُ يَرْفَعُ سِوَاكَهُ قَالَ حَمَّادٌ وَوَصَفَهُ لَنَا غَيْلَانُ قَالَ كَانَ يَسْتَنُّ طُولًا
