[Machine] I was asking people about the hadith of Adi ibn Hatim, and he mentioned the hadith while he was next to me, but I did not ask him about it. So I went to him and asked him. He said, "Yes, when the Prophet ﷺ was sent [as a messenger], I disliked him with the strongest dislike I ever felt for anything."  

أحمد:١٩٣٨٤ – حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ حُذَيْفَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ قَالَ حَمَّادٌ وَهِشَامٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ عَنْ رَجُلٍ قَالَ حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي

كُنْتُ أَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ عَنْ حَدِيثِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَهُوَ إِلَى جَنْبِي لَا أسأله عَنْهُ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ بُعِثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ حِينَ بُعِثَ فَكَرِهْتُهُ أَشَدَّ مَا كَرِهْتُ شَيْئًا قَطُّ
