ahmad:19117Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > a man from Bajīlah > ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Awfá

[Machine] I heard Abdullah bin Abi Awfa saying: There was a girl who used to play the tambourine in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Abu Bakr came, then Umar came, then Uthman came. She stopped playing, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Uthman is a modest man."  

أحمد:١٩١١٧حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَجِيلَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى يَقُولُ كَانَتْ جَارِيَةٌتَضْرِبُ بِالدُّفِّ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُمَرُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُثْمَانُ فَأَمْسَكَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ عُثْمَانَ رَجُلٌ حَيِيٌّ

[Machine] I heard Ibn Abi Awfa narrating that Abu Bakr sought permission from the Prophet ﷺ while he had a young girl with him who was playing the tambourine. Abu Bakr entered, then Umar sought permission and entered, then Uthman sought permission but the girl stopped playing. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Uthman is a modest man."
