Gabriel teaching the essentials of religion

ahmad:191Wakīʿ > Kahmas > Ibn Buraydah > Yaḥyā b. Yaʿmar > Ibn ʿUmar > ʿUmar

[AI] Gabriel said to the Prophet ﷺ, "What is faith?" He said, "That you believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and in the divine decree, its good and its evil." Gabriel then said to him, "You have spoken the truth." He said, "We were amazed at him: he asks him and affirms him." He said, then the Prophet ﷺ said, "That was Gabriel; he came to you teaching you the essentials of your religion."
