I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the Conquest of Mecca over his she-camel, reciting Surat-al-Fath in a vibrant quivering tone. (The sub-narrator, Mu'awiya added, "Were I not afraid that the people may gather around me, I would recite in vibrant quivering tone as he (i.e. ʿAbdullah bin Mughaffal) did, imitating Messenger of Allah ﷺ.")

سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مُغَفَّلٍ يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ وَهْوَ يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْفَتْحِ يُرَجِّعُ وَقَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ يَجْتَمِعَ النَّاسُ حَوْلِي لَرَجَّعْتُ كَمَا رَجَّعَ

Mu'awiya bin Qurra reported that ʿAbdullah bin Al-Maghaffal Al-Muzani said, "I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the Conquest of Mecca, riding his she-camel and reciting Surat-al-Fath (48) or part of Surat-al-Fath. He recited it in a vibrating and pleasant voice. Then Mu'awiya recited as ʿAbdullah bin Mughaffal had done and said, "Were I not afraid that the people would crowd around me, I would surely recite in a vibrating pleasant voice as Ibn Mughaffal did, imitating the Prophet." I asked Muawiya, "How did he recite in that tone?" He said thrice, "A, A , A."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ لَهُ يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْفَتْحِ أَوْ مِنْ سُورَةِ الْفَتْحِ قَالَ فَرَجَّعَ فِيهَا قَالَ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ مُعَاوِيَةُ يَحْكِي قِرَاءَةَ ابْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ وَقَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ يَجْتَمِعَ النَّاسُ عَلَيْكُمْ لَرَجَّعْتُ كَمَا رَجَّعَ ابْنُ مُغَفَّلٍ يَحْكِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ لِمُعَاوِيَةَ كَيْفَ كَانَ تَرْجِيعُهُ قَالَ آ آ آ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ

The Apostle of Allah ﷺ recited on his ride Surat al Fath during a journey in the year of the Conquest (of Mecca), and he repeated (the words) in his recitation. Mu'awiya said: If I were not afraid that the people would crowd around me, I would have given a demonstration of (the Prophet's) recitation before you.

سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مُغَفَّلٍ الْمُزَنِيَّ يَقُولُ قَرَأَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ فِي مَسِيرٍ لَهُ سُورَةَ الْفَتْحِ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ فَرَجَّعَ فِي قِرَاءَتِهِ قَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لَوْلاَ أَنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يَجْتَمِعَ عَلَىَّ النَّاسُ لَحَكَيْتُ لَكُمْ قِرَاءَتَهُ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting Surah Fath on his camel on the day of the Conquest of Mecca. He (the narrator) said: Ibn Mughaffal recited it and repeated it. Mu'awiya said: Had there been (no crowed of) people, I would have given a practical demonstration of that which Ibn Mughaffal had mentioned from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْفَتْحِ قَالَ فَقَرَأَ ابْنُ مُغَفَّلٍ وَرَجَّعَ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لَوْلاَ النَّاسُ لأَخَذْتُ لَكُمْ بِذَلِكَ الَّذِي ذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ مُغَفَّلٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

[AI] I heard Abdullah ibn Mugaffal saying that the Prophet ﷺ recited Surah Al-Fath on his camel during the year of the conquest. He also said that once Surah Al-Fath was revealed while he was on a journey, so he started reciting it while on his camel. He then stopped and said, "I wish that people would not gather around me, for I would have narrated to you its recitation."

سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مُغَفَّلٍ يَقُولُ قَرَأَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ فِي مَسِيرِهِ سُورَةَ الْفَتْحِ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً نَزَلَتْ سُورَةُ الْفَتْحِ وَهُوَ فِي مَسِيرٍ لَهُ فَجَعَلَ يَقْرَأُ وَهُوَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ قَالَ فَرَجَّعَ فِيهَا قَالَ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَكْرَهَ أَنْ يَجْتَمِعَ النَّاسُ عَلَيَّ لَحَكَيْتُ لَكُمْ قِرَاءَتَهُ

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the conquest of Makkah riding on his camel, reciting Surah Al-Fath. Ibn Mughaffal recited it and then returned. Mu'awiyah said, 'If it were not for the people, I would have taken you to the one who mentioned this from the Prophet ﷺ .' He said something about the Prophet ﷺ carrying him on his camel. Then he recited Surah Al-Fath and returned in it. Abu Iyad said, 'If it were not for the fear of people gathering around me, I would have returned as he did.'"
