ahmad:15996Abū al-Naḍr > al-Ḥakam b. Fuḍayl > Yaʿlá b. ʿAṭāʾ > ʿUbayd b. Jubayr

[Machine] On the authority of Abu Muwaihibah, a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was commanded to pray upon the people of Al-Baqi. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed upon them three times in one night. When the second night came, he said: "O Abu Muwaihibah, saddle my camel for me." He said: "So I saddled it for him, and he rode until he reached them. Then he dismounted from his camel, and his camel kneeled, and he stood over them (the graves)." Or he said: "He stood among them (the graves), and he said: "May you be blessed with what you are in, which is greater than what the people are in. Fitan (trials) will come like chunks of a dark night. One chunk after another. The later one will destroy the earlier one. May you be blessed with what you are in." Then he returned and said: "O Abu Muwaihibah, I have been given the keys to everything that will come after me, and the Paradise, or the meeting with my Lord. So I said: "By my father and mother, O Messenger of Allah, inform us." He said: "You will certainly catch up to them as Allah wills." So I chose the meeting with my Lord. And after that, he did not live except for seven or eight more nights until he died. Abu An-Nadr said: "Once he turned around to look back."

[Machine] Narrated Abu Muwayhibah, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me in the middle of the night and said, "O Abu Muwayhibah, indeed I have been commanded to seek forgiveness for the people of al-Baqi'ah. So come with me." So I went with him. When he stood amongst them, he said, "Peace be upon you, O dwellers of the graves. May what you have been blessed with in the morning be better than what the people have been blessed with in the morning. If only you knew what Allah has saved you from, then trials and tribulations would have started appearing to you like a piece of the darkest night, one following another. The last (of these trials and tribulations) is worse than the first." Then he (the Prophet) turned to me and said, "O Abu Muwayhibah, indeed I have been given the keys to the treasures of this world and the Hereafter, and I have been given the choice between them and meeting my Lord. So I said, 'By my father and mother, take the keys to the treasures of this world and the Hereafter, then Paradise.' He said, 'No, by Allah, O Abu Muwayhibah, I have chosen to meet my Lord and Paradise.' Then he sought forgiveness for the people of al-Baqi'ah, and then he left. The pain in which Allah caused him to pass away in when morning came was excruciating for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."

[Machine] Narrated by Abu Muawiyah, the servant of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , he said: The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was commanded to pray for the people of Al-Baqi and he prayed for them three times in his night prayer. When he prayed for them the third time, he said, "O Abu Muawiyah, saddle my mount for me." So I saddled the mount for him, and he rode and went to the people of Al-Baqi. Then he alighted and stood among them. He said, "May you be refined by what you have faced from among the tribulations that come one after another, like pieces of a dark night. Some of them are worse than the others. May you be refined by what you have faced from them." Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , came and said, "O Abu Muawiyah, I have been given, or I have been given the choice of the keys of what Allah will open for my nation after me, whether it is Paradise or meeting with my Lord." I said, "By my father and mother, O Messenger of Allah, I chose the meeting with my Lord." He said, "I have chosen the meeting with my Lord." The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , did not stay except for seven or eight nights before he passed away.
