ahmad:13821 – ʿAffān > Ḥammād > Thumāmah > Anas

[Machine] The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to him, so he went out to them and prayed with them, then he entered his house and stayed for a while, then he went out to them and prayed with them again, then he entered and stayed for a while. When morning came, they said, "Yesterday we came to you, O Messenger of Allah, and you prayed with us and made it light, then you entered your house and stayed for a long time." He said, "I did that for your sake." Hammad said, and Thabit narrated to us this hadith from Thumamah, and I met Thumamah and asked him.  

أحمد:١٣٨٢١ – حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا ثُمَامَةُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ جَاءَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفَّفَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ فَأَطَالَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفَّفَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَأَطَالَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ قَالُوا جِئْنَاكَ الْبَارِحَةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَصَلَّيْتَ بِنَا فَخَفَّفْتَ ثُمَّ دَخَلْتَ بَيْتَكَ فَأَطَلْتَ فَقَالَ إِنِّي فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ قَالَ حَمَّادٌ وَكَانَ حَدَّثَنَا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ثَابِتٌ عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ فَلَقِيتُ ثُمَامَةَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was visited by his companions one night, so he went out and prayed with them, then he entered his house and prolonged his stay, then he went out and prayed with them and he kept it brief, then he entered his house and prolonged his stay. When he woke up in the morning, they said, "O Messenger of Allah, you prayed and prolonged your stay when you entered your house, and you prayed and kept it brief when you went out." He said, "I did that for your sake."  

أحمد:١٢٩١٨ – حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِبْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ جَاءَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَخَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفَّفَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ فَأَطَالَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفَّفَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ فَأَطَالَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّيْتَ فَجَعَلْتَ تُطِيلُ إِذَا دَخَلْتَ بَيْتَكَ وَتُخَفِّفُ إِذَا خَرَجْتَ قَالَ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ مَا فَعَلْتُ

Then he went into his house and stayed for a while, then he came out and prayed with them, but he made the prayer short. Then he went into his house and stayed for a while. When morning came, they said, "O Messenger of Allah, you prayed and made the prayer short when you entered and you made the prayer short when you came out." He said, "I did that for your sake."
