Abyssinians used to dance and chant praises of the Prophet ﷺ

ahmad:12540ʿAbd al-Ṣamad > Ḥammād > Thābit > Anas

The Abyssinians used to sing and dance in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and say, 'Muhammad is a righteous servant.' ˹in their dialect˺ So the Messenger ﷺ was asked, 'What are they saying?' They said, “They are saying, 'Muhammad is a righteous servant.”  

أحمد:١٢٥٤٠حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

كَانَتِ الْحَبَشَةُ يَزْفِنُونَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَيَرْقُصُونَ وَيَقُولُونَ مُحَمَّدٌ عَبْدٌ صَالِحٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَا يَقُولُونَ؟ «قَالُوا يَقُولُونَ مُحَمَّدٌ عَبْدٌ صَالِحٌ.»

[Machine] Indeed, the Abyssinians (Ethiopians) were presenting themselves in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and speaking in a language that he did not understand. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What are they saying?" They replied, "Muhammad is a righteous servant."  

ابن حبّان:٥٨٧٠أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ* عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ الْحَبَشَةَ كَانُوا يَزْفِنُونَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَيَتَكَلَّمُونَ بِكَلَامٍ لَا يَفْهَمْهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا يَقُولُونَ؟ «قَالُوا مُحَمَّدٌ عَبْدٌ صَالِحٌ.»
