This is what I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do. Al-Hakam said: I heard Ibn Abu Laila [say] that ʿAli ؓ told them that Fatimah ؓ complained to her father about the marks she got on her hand from the millstone... and he mentioned a hadeeth similar to that of Muhammad bin Jaʿfar from Shuʿbah,
أَنَّ عَلِيًّا كَانَ يَسِيرُ حَتَّى إِذَا غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ وَأَظْلَمَ نَزَلَ فَصَلَّى الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ عَلَى أَثَرِهَا ثُمَّ يَقُولُ هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ
[Machine] To inform you of the answer: "That he should pray the Maghrib prayer after sunset, then supplicate with his evening meal, then eat, then pray the Isha prayer after it, then say, 'This is how I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying.'"
أَنْ يُظْلِمَ يَنْزِلُ فَيُصَلِّي الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ يَدْعُو بِعَشَائِهِ فَيَأْكُلُ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي الْعِشَاءَ عَلَى إِثْرِهَا ثُمَّ يَقُولُ «هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي»
" عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ مُحمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلىِّ عَنْ أبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَن عَلِيّا كان يَسِيرُ حتى إِذَا غَرَبَتِ الشَّمسُ وَأظلَمَ نَزَلَ فَصَلَّى الْمَغرِبَ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ عَلَى أَثَرِهَا، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: هَكَذَا رَأيْتُ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ يَصْنَعُ ".
