from the Prophet ﷺ who said, “The needy is not the one who wanders around you that you feed him morsel upon morsel, but the needy is the one who has no means of support and who does not ask others for help.”  

أحمد:١٠٥٦٩حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنِ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالطَّوَّافِ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُطْعِمُوهُ لُقْمَةً لُقْمَةً إِنَّمَا الْمِسْكِينُ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ الَّذِي لَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The poor person is not the one for whom a date or two or a morsel or two (of food is sufficient but the poor person is he who does not (beg or) ask the people (for something) or show his poverty at all. Recite if you wish, (Allah's Statement): "They do not beg of people at all." (2.273)  

البخاري:٤٥٣٩حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي شَرِيكُ بْنُ أَبِي نَمِرٍ أَنَّ عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ وَعَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ الأَنْصَارِيَّ قَالاَ

سَمِعْنَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ يَقُولُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ وَلاَ اللُّقْمَةُ وَلاَ اللُّقْمَتَانِ إِنَّمَا الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي يَتَعَفَّفُ وَاقْرَءُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ {لاَ يَسْأَلُونَ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا}

Miskin is not he who is dismissed with one or two dates, and with one morsel or two morsels. (In fact) miskin is he who abstains (from begging). Read if you so desire (the verse):" They beg not of men importunately)" (ii. 273).

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ وَلاَ اللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ إِنَّمَا الْمِسْكِينُ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ اقْرَءُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ { لاَ يَسْأَلُونَ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا}

"The poor man (Miskin) is not the one who leaves if you give him a date or two, or a morsel or two. Rather the poor man is the one who refrains from asking. Recite if you wish: "They do not beg of people at all."'  

النسائي:٢٥٧١أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
