[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, those who came before you perished due to their excessive questioning and their disagreement regarding their prophets. Do not ask me about anything unless I inform you of it." Abdullah bin Hudhafa asked: "Who is my father, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "Your father is Hudhafa bin Qais." Abdullah then returned to his mother, who exclaimed: "What made you ask the Messenger of Allah about this? We used to be people of ignorance and engaged in sinful acts." He replied to her: "If only I knew who my father was among the people."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِكَثْرَةِ سُؤَالِهِمْ وَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ لَا تَسْأَلُونِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ بِهِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ حُذَافَةَ مَنْ أَبِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ أَبُوكَ حُذَافَةُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ فَرَجَعَ إِلَى أُمِّهِ فَقَالَتْ وَيْحَكَ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى الَّذِي صَنَعْتَ؟ فَقَدْ كُنَّا أَهْلَ جَاهِلِيَّةٍ وَأَهْلَ أَعْمَالٍ قَبِيحَةٍ فَقَالَ لَهَا إِنْ كُنْتُ لَأُحِبُّ أَنْ أَعْلَمَ مَنْ أَبِي مَنْ كَانَ مِنَ النَّاسِ
