ahmad-zuhd:959ʿAbdullāh > al-Ḥasan b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz > Muḥammad b. Abū ʿUmar > Fuḍayl b. ʿIyāḍ

[Machine] I said to Ali, meaning his son, "If you helped us for a lifetime, he took a sack and went to the market to carry it." Then a man came to me and informed me, so I went to him and I returned it to him and said, "O my son, I do not want all of this or I do not want this."  

الزهد لأحمد:٩٥٩حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ أَبِي عُمَرَ عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ قَالَ

قُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ يَعْنِي ابْنَهُ لَوْ أَعَنْتَنَا عَلَى دَهْرِنَا فَأَخَذَ قُفَّةً وَمَضَى إِلَى السُّوقِ لِيَحْمِلَ فَأَتَانِي رَجُلٌ فَأَعْلَمَنِي فَمَضَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَرَدَدْتُهُ وَقُلْتُ يَا بُنَيَّ لَسْتُ أُرِيدُ هَذَا أَوْ لَمْ أُرِدْ هَذَا كُلَّهُ
