[Machine] It should be known about his night when people are sleeping, and about his day when people are breaking their fast, and about his sadness when people are rejoicing, and about his weeping when people are laughing, and about his silence when people are making mistakes, and about his humility when people are being arrogant. It is appropriate for the carrier of the Quran to be a weeper, sad, patient, and calm, and it is not appropriate for the carrier of the Quran to be dry, nor negligent, nor shouty, nor laughing, nor harsh.  

الزهد لأحمد:٨٩٢حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَعْفُورَ عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ يَنْبَغِي لِحَامِلِ الْقُرْآنِ

أَنْ يُعْرَفَ بِلَيْلِهِ إِذَا النَّاسُ نَائِمُونَ وَبِنَهَارِهِ إِذَا النَّاسُ مُفْطِرُونَ وبِحُزْنِهِ إِذَا النَّاسُ يَفْرَحُونَ وَبِبُكَائِهِ إِذَا النَّاسُ يَضْحَكُونَ وبِصَمْتِهِ إِذَا النَّاسُ يُخْطِئُونَ وَبِخُشُوعِهِ إِذَا النَّاسُ يَخْتَالُونَ وَيَنْبَغِي لِحَامِلِ الْقُرْآنِ أَنْ يَكُونَ بَاكِيًا مَحْزُونًا حَلِيمًا سَكِينًا وَلَا يَنْبَغِي لِحَامِلِ الْقُرْآنِ أَنْ يَكُونَ جَافِيًا وَلَا غَافِلًا وَلَا صَخَّابًا وَلَا ضَاحِكًا وَلَا حَدِيدًا
