[Machine] He (may God have mercy on him) said, "Pray for them and do not criticize them." He repeated it to Umar three or four times, so Umar said to him, "Do not criticize. I fear for you that Allah may take you into His grip."  

الزهد لأحمد:٦٤٥ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أبِي حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي حَجَّاجُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ أَنَّ أَبَا صَالِحٍ الْغِفَارِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ قَوْمِي قَدَّمُونِي فَصَلَّيْتُ بِهِمْ ثُمَّ أَمَرُونِي أَنْ أَقُصَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَفَعَلْتُ» فَقَالَ

لَهُ عُمَرُ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ «صَلِّ بِهِمْ وَلَا تَقُصَّ عَلَيْهِمْ» فَتَرَدَّدَ إِلَى عُمَرَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ أَوْ أَرْبَعًا فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ لَا تَقُصَّ؛ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكَ أَنْ تَرْفَعَ نَفْسَكَ فَيَضَعَكَ اللَّهُ قَبْضَةً
