[Machine] People were afflicted in a year when ghee became expensive, and 'Umar used to eat oil. So his stomach would rumble and he would say, "Rumble as much as you want, by Allah, I will not eat ghee until the people eat it." Then he said, "Remove its warmth from me with fire, for I used to cook it for him so that he could eat it."

[Machine] People were afflicted in a year when butter became expensive, so Umar would eat oil which would cause his stomach to make noises. In another narration, Yahya said that Umar would eat it and when it became scarce, he said, "I will not eat it until the people eat it." He would eat oil and it would make his stomach make noises. Ibn Mukram said in his narration, "Make noise as much as you want, by Allah, I will not eat butter until the people eat it." Then he said to me, "Break its solidness for me with fire," so I would cook it for him and he would eat it.
