ahmad-zuhd:580ʿAbdullāh > ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Muḥammad al-Darāwardī > Zayd b. Aslam from his father

[Machine] That Umar saw Abu Bakr while he was holding his tongue with his hand and said, "What are you doing, O Caliph of the Messenger of Allah?" And he said, "Did anything bring me distress except this?"  

الزهد لأحمد:٥٨٠حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَأَى أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَهُوَ مُدْلٍ لِسَانَهُ آخِذُهُ بِيَدِهِ فَقَالَ «مَا تَصْنَعُ [93] يَا خَلِيفَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ؟» فَقَالَ «وَهَلْ أَوْرَدَنِيَ الْمَوَارِدَ إِلَّا هَذَا»
