الزهد لأحمد:١٩٥٠ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُبَارَكُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ قَالَ قِيلَ لِأَبِي وَائِلٍ أَنْتَ أَكْبَرُ أَوِ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ خُثَيْمٍ؟ قَالَ

«أَنَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْهُ سِنًّا وَهُوَ أَكْبَرُ مِنِّي عَقْلًا»
