[Machine] "Do you think I want butter?" He said, "I heard Malik say: 'O people, I do not fear famine or disgrace. My bread is in the market and my water is in the river.' He said, 'I heard Malik say: 'I swear to you, if it weren't for urinating, I wouldn't leave the mosque.' He said, 'I heard Malik say: 'It pleases me to have the best people of Basra as the seed, then what can I do with the seed of Basra?'"  

الزهد لأحمد:١٨٩١حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ قَالَ أُخْبِرْتُ عَنْ سَيَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مَالِكًا سُئِلَ يَا أَبَا يَحْيَى يَكْفِيكَ رَغِيفَانِ؟ فَقَالَ

أَتَحْسَبُونَ أُرِيدُ السَّمْنَ؟

قالَ: وسَمِعْتُ مالِكًا يَقُولُ: «يا هَؤُلاءِ أنا لا أخْشى لَوًى ولا تُخْمَةً، خُبْزِي فِي الفِعالِ ومائِي فِي النَّهَرِ»

قالَ: وسَمِعْتُ مالِكًا يَقُولُ: «بِحَقٍّ أقُولُ لَكُمْ: لَوْلا البَوْلُ ما خَرَجْتُ مِنَ المَسْجِدِ»

قالَ: وسَمِعْتُ مالِكًا يَقُولُ: "ما يَسُرُّنِي أنَّ لِي أحْسَنَ أهْلِ البَصْرَةِ بِنَواةٍ، ثُمَّ نَواةٌ بِبَصْرَةٍ ما أصْنَعُ بِها؟
