[Machine] I have desired you for forty years, and I have conquered you until today. Now you want to conquer me and take me away from you. He said, but he refused to eat.  

الزهد لأحمد:١٨٧٩ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَيَّارٌ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ أَبُو إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحِمْيَرِيُّ جَلِيسُ مَالِكِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مَالِكَ بْنَ دِينَارٍ يَقُولُ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ إِنِّي لَأَشْتَهِي رَغِيفًا لَيِّنًا بِلَبَنٍ رَائِبٍ فَانْطَلَقَ فَجَاءَ بِهِ قَالَ فَجُعِلَ لَهُ عَلَى الرَّغِيفِ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ مَالِكٌ يُقَلِّبُهُ وَيَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ

أَشْتَهِيكَ مُنْذُ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً فَغَلَبْتُكَ حَتَّى كَانَ الْيَوْمُ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَغْلِبَنِي إِلَيْكَ عَنِّي قَالَ وَأَبَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ
