ahmad-zuhd:1866ʿAbdullāh Biʾisnādih > Mālik > And al-Lah Law Āstaṭaʿt Allā Anām Lam Anam Makhāfah > Yanzil ʿAdhāb

[Machine] I heard Malik say, "By Allah, if I could stay awake, I would not sleep out of fear that punishment might descend while I am asleep. By Allah, if I found helpers, I would separate them in the middle of this world and call out to people, 'O people, fire! Fire!'"  

الزهد لأحمد:١٨٦٦حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بِإِسْنَادِهِ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ مَالِكًا يَقُولُ وَاللَّهِ لَوِ اسْتَطَعْتُ أَلَّا أَنَامَ لَمْ أَنَمْ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ عَذَابٌ وَأَنَا نَائِمٌ وَاللَّهِ لَوْ وَجَدْتُ أَعْوَانًا فَرَّقْتُهُمْ فِي مَنَارِ الدُّنْيَا يُنَادُونَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ النَّارَ النَّارَ
