[Machine] They mentioned humility to Al-Hasan while he remained silent until they spoke to him in abundance. He said to them, "I see that you have spoken excessively about humility." They asked, "What is humility, O Abu Sa'id?" He said, "It is when one leaves his home and does not meet a Muslim without thinking that they are better than him."  

الزهد لأحمد:١٥٩٨حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هِلَالٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ قَالَ

ذَكَرُوا التَّوَاضُعَ عِنْدَ الْحَسَنِ وَهُوَ سَاكِتٌ حَتَّى إِذَا أَكْثَرُوا عَلَيْهِ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَرَاكُمْ قَدْ أَكْثَرْتُمُ الْكَلَامَ فِي التَّوَاضُعِ قَالُوا أَيُّ شَيْءٍ التَّوَاضُعُ يَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ؟ قَالَ «يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ فَلَا يَلْقَى مُسْلِمًا إِلَّا ظَنَّ أَنَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِنْهُ»
