[Machine] The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were in a military campaign in Sistan, and the fighting and siege of the fortress of Sistan intensified upon them. Among them was a man who said, "The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sit in groups and one group would go out to fight, then another group would come, and then another group would come." So, one of them said to the other, "Do you see the attribute that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned about this man?" He replied, "Yes, this attribute belongs to this man, and this attribute belongs to this man," until they all agreed on this. They said to him, "O man, the fighting and siege of this fortress has intensified upon us, and we see the attribute mentioned by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in you. So, swear by your Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, to grant us victory." He said, "He left their statement and said, 'Indeed, I am a poor and weak person. I do not have the companionship of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , but I kept your company hoping for your blessings and to learn from you.'" They insisted on him, and he became distressed by that. They said to him, "We ask you by the right of companionship, for which you swore by your Lord, to grant us victory." He said, "I swear by you, O Lord, when You granted us victory and made me the first martyr." Allah granted them victory, and he became the first martyr.  

كَانَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ غَزَاةً بِسِجِسْتَانَ فَاشْتَدَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ وَالطَّلَبُ بِقَلْعَةِ سِجِسْتَانَ وَفِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ قَالَ وَكَانَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَجْلِسُونَ حِلَقًا حِلَقًا فَتَقُومُ طَائِفَةٌ فَيُقَاتِلُونَ ثُمَّ يَجِيئُونَ ثُمَّ تَقُومُ طَائِفَةٌ أُخْرَى فَيُقَاتِلُونَ ثُمَّ يَجِيئُونَ قَالَ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ هَلْ تَرَوْنَ فِي هَذَا الرَّجُلِ النَّعْتَ الَّذِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ فَقَالَ هَذَا لِهَذَا نَعَمْ وَهَذَا لِهَذَا نَعَمْ حَتَّى اجْتَمَعُوا عَلَى ذَلِكَ فَقَالُوا أَيُّهَا الرَّجُلُ إِنَّهُ قَدِ اشْتَدَّ عَلَيْنَا الْقِتَالُ وَالطَّلَبُ لِهَذِهِ الْقَلْعَةِ وَإِنَّا نَرَى فِيكَ النَّعْتَ الَّذِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَقْسِمْ عَلَى رَبِّكَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى أَنْ يَفْتَحَ عَلَيْنَا قَالَ فَخَرَجَ مِنْ قَوْلِهِمْ وَقَالَ إِنِّي إِنْسَانٌ مِسْكِينٌ ضَعِيفٌ لَيْسَتْ لِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ صُحْبَةٌ إِنَّمَا صَحِبْتُكُمْ أَرْجُو بَرَكَتَكُمْ وَأَتَعَلَّمُ مِنْكُمْ قَالَ فَأَعَادُوا عَلَيْهِ فَجَزِعَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَقَالُوا لَهُ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ الصُّحْبَةِ لَمَا أَقْسَمْتَ عَلَى رَبِّكَ ﷻ أَنْ يَفْتَحَ عَلَيْنَا قَالَ أَقْسَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَبِّ لَمَا فَتَحْتَ عَلَيْنَا وَجَعَلْتَنِي أَوَّلَ مَقْتُولٍ قَالَ فَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَقْتُولٍ
