Al-Aswad ibn Suray' said, "I was a poet and went to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, 'Shall I recite some praises I have written for my Lord?' He said, 'Your Lord loves praise,' and did not say anything more."
عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سَرِيعٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ شَاعِرًا فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ أَلاَ أُنْشِدُكَ مَحَامِدَ حَمِدْتُ بِهَا رَبِّي؟ قَالَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يُحِبُّ الْمَحَامِدَ وَلَمْ يَزِدْنِي عَلَيْهِ
