adab:727Anas (ra) said that a man made this supplication in the presence of the Prophet (ﷺ) "O Allah, you have not bestowed upon me wealth so I cannot give Sadaqah, hence involve me in anxiety so that I may earn reward against that. The prophet said," Subhan Allah! You cannot endure difficulty. Why did you not make this supplication?:

(O Allah, let us have the good of this world and the good of the hereafter and save us from the torment of the fire).  

الأدب المفرد:٧٢٧حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَجُلٌ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ اللَّهُمَّ لَمْ تُعْطِنِي مَالاً فَأَتَصَدَّقَ بِهِ فَابْتَلِنِي بِبَلاَءٍ يَكُونُ أَوْ قَالَ فِيهِ أَجْرٌ فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ لاَ تُطِيقُهُ أَلاَ قُلْتَ اللَّهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
