"When 'Umar bin Al-Khattab removed 'Umair bin Sa'd as governor of Hims, he appointed Mu'awiyah. The people said: 'He has removed 'Umair and appointed Mu'awiyah.' So 'Umair said: 'Do not mention Mu'awiyah except with good, for indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "O Allah guide (others) by him."  

الترمذي:٣٨٤٣ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ وَاقِدٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ حَلْبَسٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلاَنِيِّ قَالَ لَمَّا عَزَلَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ عُمَيْرَ بْنَ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ حِمْصَ وَلَّى مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقَالَ

النَّاسُ عَزَلَ عُمَيْرًا وَوَلَّى مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقَالَ عُمَيْرٌ لاَ تَذْكُرُوا مُعَاوِيَةَ إِلاَّ بِخَيْرٍ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِ بِهِ  

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ وَاقِدٍ يُضَعَّفُ
