[Machine] "When the Prophet (PBUH) used to pray Asr, he would whisper, and the movement of his lips indicated that he was speaking something. Someone asked him, 'O Prophet of Allah, do you whisper when you pray Asr?' The Prophet (PBUH) replied, 'There was a prophet among the prophets who was amazed by his people, so he asked, 'Who will avenge these people?' Then Allah (SWT) revealed to him to choose between taking revenge from them or unleashing their enemies upon them. So, they chose the punishment, and Allah (SWT) sent death upon them, and seventy thousand of them died in a day.'"  

الطبراني:٧٣١٩b – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ قَالَ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ هَمَسَ وَالْهَمْسُ فِي قَوْلِ بَعْضِهِمْ يُحَرِّكُ شَفَتَيْهِ كَأَنَّهُ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِشَيْءٍ فَقِيلَ لَهُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنَّكَ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الْعَصْرَ هَمَسْتَ؟ فَقَالَ إِنَّ نَبِيًّا مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ كَانَ أَعْجَبَ بِأُمَّتِهِ فَقَالَ مَنْ يَقُومُ لِهَؤُلَاءِ؟ فَأَوْحَى الله ﷻ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ خَيِّرْهُمْ بَيْنَ أَنْ أَنْتَقِمَ مِنْهُمْ وَبَيْنَ أَنْ أُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوَّهُمْ فَاخْتَارُوا النِّقْمَةَ فَسَلَّطَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَوْتَ فَمَاتَ مِنْهُمْ فِي يَوْمٍ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا

It was said to him, "O Prophet of Allah, do you whisper when you pray the Asr prayer?" Then Allah revealed to him to choose between avenging them or letting their enemies prevail over them, so they chose vengeance. So Allah inflicted death upon them, and seventy thousand of them died in one day."
