[Machine] I saw Abu Mahdhura and he had long hair, so I said to him, "Why don't you cut your hair?" He replied, "I would not have let my hair grow long if it were not for the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to leave it be."  

الطبراني:٦٧٤٧ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ سَهْلٍ الرَّمْلِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

رَأَيْتُ أَبَا مَحْذُورَةَ وَلَهُ شَعَرٌ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَلَا تَأْخُذُ شَعْرَكَ؟ فَقَالَ «مَا كُنْتُ لِأُحِفَّ شَعَرًا مَسَحَ أَمَرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهِ»
