[Machine] An Arab man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about "al-luqata" (lost property). The Prophet told him to announce it for a year, and if the owner came, to give it back to him. Otherwise, the man could keep it for himself or make use of it.
جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ فَقَالَ عَرِّفْهَا سَنَةً ثُمَّ اعْرِفْ عِفَاصَهَا وَوِكَاءَهَا أَوْ قَالَ وِعَاءَهَا فَإِنْ جَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا فَادْفَعْهَا إِلَيْهِ وَإِلَّا فَاسْتَنْفِقْهَا أَوِ اسْتَمْتِعْ بِهَا
The Messenger of Allah (SWAS) was asked about a find. He replied : Make the matter known for a year; if its owner comes, give it to him, otherwise note its string and its container and have it along with your property. If its owner comes, deliver it to him.
أَنَّهُ قَالَ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ وَسُئِلَ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ فَقَالَ تُعَرِّفُهَا حَوْلاً فَإِنْ جَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا دَفَعْتَهَا إِلَيْهِ وَإِلاَّ عَرَفْتَ وِكَاءَهَا وَعِفَاصَهَا ثُمَّ أَفِضْهَا فِي مَالِكَ فَإِنْ جَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا فَادْفَعْهَا إِلَيْهِ
[Machine] An Arab man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about the finding. He said: "Identify it for a year, then identify its owner and vessel (container) or he said its container. If its owner comes, give it back to him, otherwise spend it or enjoy it."

The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! What about a lost sheep?" Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Take it, for it is for you, for your brother, or for the wolf." The man asked, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! What about a lost camel?" Messenger of Allah ﷺ got angry and his cheeks or face became red, and said, "You have no concern with it as it has its feet, and its watercontainer, till its owner finds it."
