عَوْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ

[Machine] He used to examine the defects of a commodity when he put it up for sale and then gave the buyer the choice, saying, "If you wish, you can take it, and if you wish, you can leave it." He was asked, "May Allah have mercy on you, when you do this, the sale does not go through for you." He replied, "We made a contract with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , to give sincere advice to the people of Islam."  

الطبراني:٢٥١٠حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَتُّوَيْهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ قَالَا ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمُنْكَدِرِيُّ ثنا بَكْرُ بْنُ صَدَقَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ الدُّجَانِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ كِلَاهُمَا عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ الْبَجَلِيِّ

أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا أَقَامَ سِلْعَةً بَصَّرَ عُيُوبَهَا ثُمَّ خَيَّرَهُ فَقَالَ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَخُذْ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَاتْرُكْ فَقِيلَ لَهُ يَرْحَمُكَ اللهُ إِنَّكَ إِذَا فَعَلْتَ هَذَا لَمْ يَنْفُذْ لَكَ الْبَيْعُ فَقَالَ «إِنَّا بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى النُّصْحِ لِأَهْلِ الْإِسْلَامِ»
