"عَنْ أبِى سَعِيدٍ أن النَّبِىَّ ﷺ غَرَسَ عُودًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، وآخَر إِلَى جَنْبِهِ، وآخر بَعْدَهُ، وَقَالَ: أَتَدْرُونَ مَا هَذَا؟ قَالَوا: الله وَرَسُوله أَعْلَم، قَالَ: هَذَا الإِنْسَان، وهَذَا الأَجَلُ يَتَعَاطَى الأَمَل فَيَخْتَلجهُ الأَجَل دُونَ الأَمَل".

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ grabbed a hold of something with his hand, then he grabbed another thing to his side, then he grabbed a third thing and pushed it away. Then he said, "Do you know what this is?" They said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "This is man, and this is his lifespan, and this is his hope. He deals with hope and lifespan, and anything beyond that is uncertain."
