"Ali reported: I encouraged Umar to stand (in prayer) during the month of Ramadan. I informed him that above the seventh heaven, there is a sanctuary called "The Holy Sanctuary" where a people called "The Spirits" reside. On the Night of Destiny, they seek permission from their Lord to descend to the earthly world, and permission is granted to them. They do not pass by anyone praying or on the road except that they supplicate for them, and the person is blessed by them. Umar said: O Abu Al-Hassan, let us encourage people towards prayer so that they may be blessed by it. He then commanded the people to stand in prayer."  

"عَنْ عَلىٍّ قَالَ: أَنَا حَرَّضْتُ عُمَرَ عَلَى الْقِيَامِ في شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ، أَخْبَرْتُهُ أَنَّ فَوْقَ السَّماء السَّابِعَةِ حَظيرَةً يُقَالُ لَهَا: حَظِيرَةُ الْقُدُسِ، يَسْكُنُهَا قَوْمٌ يُقَالُ لَهُم الرُّوحُ، فَإِذَا كَانَ لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ اسْتَأذَنُوا رَبَهُم في النُّزُولِ إِلَى الدُّنْيَا، فَيَأذَنُ لَهُمْ، فَلاَ يَمُرونَ بِأَحَدٍ يُصَلِّى أَوْ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ إِلاَّ دَعَوْا لَهُ فَأَصَابَهُ مِنْهُم بَرَكَةٌ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ فَنُحَرِّضُ (*) النَّاسَ عَلَى الصَّلاَةِ حَتَّى تُصِيبَهُم الْبَرَكَةُ، فَأَمَرَ النَّاسَ بِالْقِيَامِ".
