"عن قيس بن أبى حازم قال: سَمِعْتُ عَلِىَّ بْنَ أَبِى طَالِبٍ عَلَى مِنْبَرِ الْكُوفَةِ يَقُولُ: أَلَا لَعَنَ الله الأَفْجَرَيْنِ مَنْ تولى (* ): بَنِى أُمَيَّةَ وَبَنِى مُغيرَةَ: أَمَّا بَنُو الْمُغِيرَةِ فَأَهْلَكَهُمُ الله بِالسَّيْفِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ، وَأَمَّا بَنُو أُمَيَّةَ فَهَيْهَاتَ هَيْهَاتَ، أَمَا وَالَّذِى فَلَقَ الحَبَّةَ، وَبَرَأَ النَّسَمَةَ لَوْ كَانَ الْمُلْكُ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْجِبَالِ لسوا ( * ) إليه حتى يعلو ( * * *) ".
