"عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ والشَّعْبِىَّ، عَنْ عَلِىٍّ فِى الرَّجُلِ يُخَيَّر امْرَأتَهُ قَالَ: إِنْ اخْتَارَتْ نَفْسَهَا فَهِىَ وَاحِدَةٌ بَائنة، وَإِنْ اخْتَارَتْ زَوْجَهَا فَهِىَ وَاحِدَةٌ، وَهُو أَحَقُّ بِهَا، قَالَ: وَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الخَطَّابِ وَعَبْدُ الله بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ: إنْ اخْتَارَتْ نَفْسَهَا فَهِىَ وَاحِدَةٌ، وَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهَا، وَإِنِ اخْتَارَتْ زَوْجَها فَلَا شَىْءَ، قَالَ: وَقَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ: إنِ اخْتَارَتْ نَفْسَهَا فَهِىَ ثَلَاثٌ".
