"عن عطاء أن عثمان بن عفان لما نسخ القرآن في المصاحف، أرسل إلى أُبَيِّ بن كعب، فكان يملى على زيد بن ثابت وزيد يكتب، ومعه سعيد بن العاص يعربه، فهذا المصحف على قراءة أُبَىّ وزيد".
