"عن ابن المسيب قال: أَوَّلُ مَنْ كتَبَ التَّاريخَ عُمَرُ لِسَنَتَيْنِ وَنِصْفٍ مِنْ خِلَافَتِهِ، فَكَتَبَ لِسِتَّ عَشْرَةَ مِنَ الهِجْرَةِ بِمَشُورَةِ عَلِىِّ بْنِ أَبِى طَالِبٍ".
