" عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: كُنَّا نَسْتَمْتِعُ بِالْقَبْضَةِ مِنَ التَّمْرِ وَالدَّقيقِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ وَأَبِى بَكْرٍ حَتَّى نَهَى عُمَرُ النَّاسَ، وَكُنَّ يَعْتَدِدْنَ الْمُستَمْتِعَ مِنْهُنَّ بِحَيْضَةٍ ".
We contracted temporary marriage giving a handful of (tales or flour as a dower during the lifetime of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and durnig the time of Abu Bakr until 'Umar forbade it in the case of 'Amr b. Huraith.
سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ كُنَّا نَسْتَمْتِعُ بِالْقُبْضَةِ مِنَ التَّمْرِ وَالدَّقِيقِ الأَيَّامَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ حَتَّى نَهَى عَنْهُ عُمَرُ فِي شَأْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ
[AI] I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say, "We used to enjoy eating dates and flour in the days of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Abu Bakr, until Umar advised us against it due to an incident involving Amr ibn Huraith."
