ibnhibban:6217ʿAbdullāh b. Muḥammad b. Salm Bibayt al-Maqdis > Ḥarmalah b. Yaḥyá > Ibn Wahb > ʿAmr b. al-Ḥārith > Abū al-Samḥ > Ibn Ḥujayrah > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: "Moses asked his Lord about six qualities that he thought were exclusively for him, and he did not possess the seventh. He said, 'O Lord, which of Your servants is the most righteous?' He said, 'The one who remembers Me and does not forget.' He said, 'O Lord, which of Your servants is the most guided?' He said, 'The one who follows guidance.' He said, 'O Lord, which of Your servants is the wisest?' He said, 'The one who judges for the people as he judges for himself.' He said, 'O Lord, which of Your servants is the most knowledgeable?' He said, 'The one who has endless knowledge and gathers the knowledge of the people unto his knowledge.' He said, 'O Lord, which of Your servants is the most honorable?' He said, 'The one who forgives when he is able to take revenge.' He said, 'O Lord, which of Your servants is the richest?' He said, 'The one who is content with what he is given.' He said, 'O Lord, which of Your servants is the poorest?' He said, 'The one who has nothing and is aware of it.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Wealth is not in having many possessions; rather, true wealth is the wealth of the soul. When Allah intends good for a servant, He makes him wealthy in his soul and provides Taqwa (piety) in his heart. And when Allah intends evil for a servant, He makes his poverty apparent.'"
