"خَيْرُ أُمَّتِى القَرْن الذينَ أَنَا فِيهِمْ، ثُمَّ الثَّانِى، ثُمَّ الثَّالِثُ، ثُمَّ الرَّابعُ لَا يَعْبَأْ اللَّه بِهِمْ شَيْئًا".  

أَبو نعيم في المعرفة: عن عمر، وقال: هذا حديث غريب من حديث الأَعمش، يقال: إِنَّ الفيض بن وثيق تفرد به، انتهى، وفى المغنى: الفيض بن وثيق، قال ابن معين: كذاب خبيث
