"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade me to wear (a ring) on this finger," and it was on the middle finger and the one next to it.

النسائي:٥٢٨٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ أَلْبَسَ فِي إِصْبَعِي هَذِهِ وَفِي الْوُسْطَى وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا

Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade me that I should wear a ring in this and that finger of mine, and he pointed to the middle finger and the next one.

ahmad:1019 – ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Sufyān And ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Sufyān > ʿĀṣim / Ibn Kulayb > Abū Burdah > ʿAlī
