I said to Yahya b. Hammad: This is the hadith that I heard from Abu 'Awana and he said: I also heard it from Shu'ba. I said: Narrate that to me and he narrated that to me.  

مسلم:٢٣٠١c – وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ مَعْدَانَ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ حَدِيثَ الْحَوْضِ فَقُلْتُ لِيَحْيَى بْنِ حَمَّادٍ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ أَبِي عَوَانَةَ فَقَالَ وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَيْضًا مِنْ شُعْبَةَ فَقُلْتُ انْظُرْ لِي فِيهِ فَنَظَرَ لِي فِيهِ فَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِ
