malik:28-56 – Yaḥyá > Mālik > Zayd b. Aslam

Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you marry a woman or buy a slave-girl, take her by the forelock and ask for baraka. When you buy a camel, take the top of its hump, and seek refuge with Allah from Shaytan."

مالك:٢٨-٥٦ – حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا تَزَوَّجَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَوِ اشْتَرَى الْجَارِيَةَ فَلْيَأْخُذْ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا وَلْيَدْعُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ وَإِذَا اشْتَرَى الْبَعِيرَ فَلْيَأْخُذْ بِذِرْوَةِ سَنَامِهِ وَلْيَسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ

"When anyone of you buys a slave woman let him say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka khairaha wa khaira ma jabaltaha alaihi, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma jabaltaha alaihi (O Allah, I ask You for the goodness within her and the goodness that You have made her inclined towards, and I seek refuge with You from the evil within her and the evil that You have made her inclined towards).' And he should pray for blessing. And if anyone of you buys a camel then he should take hold of its hump and pray for. blessing and say similar words." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2252)

الحاكم:٢٧٥٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الشَّهِيدُ ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ثنا ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَفَادَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْجَارِيَةَ أَوِ الْمَرْأَةَ أَوِ الدَّابَّةَ فَلْيَأْخُذْ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا وَلْيَدْعُ بِالْبَرَكَةَ وَلْيَقُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا وَخَيْرَ مَا جُبِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ مَا جُبِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ بَعِيرًا فَلْيَأْخُذْ بِذِرْوَةِ سَنَامِهِ

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى مَا ذَكَرْنَاهُ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ الْأَئِمَّةِ الثِّقَاتِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو فِي الْكِتَابَيْنِ» صحيح
