7.11 The two khutbah before the prayer, and sitting briefly in between them

٧۔١١ باب ذِكْرِ الْخُطْبَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الصَّلاَةِ وَمَا فِيهِمَا مِنَ الْجَلْسَةِ

(499) bukhari:920 – ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar al-Qawārīrī > Khālid b. al-Ḥārith > ʿUbaydullāh > Nāfiʿ > Ibn ʿUmar

The Prophet ﷺ used to deliver the Khutba while standing and then he would sit, then stand again as you do now-a-days.  

(٤٩٩) البخاري:٩٢٠ – حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ قَالَ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا ثُمَّ يَقْعُدُ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ كَمَا تَفْعَلُونَ الآنَ
