36.25 The prohibition of eating two dates etc., at a time when eating with a group, except with the permission of one's companions

٣٦۔٢٥ باب نَهْيِ الآكِلِ مَعَ جَمَاعَةٍ عَنْ قِرَانِ تَمْرَتَيْنِ وَنَحْوِهِمَا فِي لُقْمَةٍ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِ أَصْحَابِهِ

(1326) bukhari:2455Ḥafṣ b. ʿUmar > Shuʿbah > Jabalah

"We were in Medina with some of the Iraqi people, and we were struck with famine and Ibn Az- Zubair used to give us dates. Ibn ʿUmar used to pass by and say, "The Prophet ﷺ forbade us to eat two dates at a time, unless one takes the permission of one's companions."

كُنَّا بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ فَأَصَابَنَا سَنَةٌ فَكَانَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ يَرْزُقُنَا التَّمْرَ فَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ ؓ يَمُرُّ بِنَا فَيَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الإِقْرَانِ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَسْتَأْذِنَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْكُمْ أَخَاهُ
