The Prophet ﷺ said, "Neither Fara' nor 'Atira (is permissible):" Al-Fara' nor 'Atira (is permissible):" Al- Fara' was the first offspring (of camels or sheep) which the pagans used to offer (as a sacrifice) to their idols. And Al-ʿAtira was (a sheep which was to be slaughtered) during the month of Rajab.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ فَرَعَ وَلاَ عَتِيرَةَ وَالْفَرَعُ أَوَّلُ النِّتَاجِ كَانُوا يَذْبَحُونَهُ لَطِوَاغِيتِهِمْ وَالْعَتِيرَةُ فِي رَجَبٍ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Neither Fara' nor 'Atira) is permissible)." Al-Fara' was the first offspring (they got of camels or sheep) which they (pagans) used to offer (as a sacrifice) to their idols. 'Atira was (a sheep which used to be slaughtered) during the month of Rajab.

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no 'fringe' or 'forelock', and the 'fringe' is the first offspring that they would breed and then slaughter it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا فَرَعَ وَلَا عَتِيرَةَ وَالْفَرَعُ أَوَّلُ النِّتَاجِ كَانَ يُنْتَجُ لَهُمْ فَيَذْبَحُونَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no 'Far' or 'Atirah'." Ibn Shihab said, "'Far' refers to the people of Jahiliyyah who would slaughter the first offspring of their livestock, and 'Atirah' refers to the sacrificing that used to be done in the month of Rajab."
