ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ أَنَّ قَوْلَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ: وَهُوَ يَسِمُ أَرَادَ بِهِ بِنَفْسِهِ دُونَ أَنْ يَكُونَ هُوَ الْآمِرُ بِهِ

[Machine] "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with Abdullah bin Abi Talha so that he could circumcise him, and I presented him with the knife used for sacrificing the camels of charity."  

ابن حبّان:٤٥٣٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

«أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ لِيُحَنِّكَهُ فَوَافَيْتُهُ بِيَدِهِ الْمِيسَمُ يَسِمُ إِبِلَ الصَّدَقَةِ»

I took ʿAbdullah bin Abu Talha to Messenger of Allah ﷺ to perform Tahnik for him. (Tahnik was a custom among the Muslims that whenever a child was born they used to take it to the Prophet ﷺ who would chew a piece of date and put a part of its juice in the child's mouth). I saw the Prophet ﷺ and he had an instrument for branding in his hands and was branding the camels of Zakat.
