[Machine] Write to you with a shield and a pardon and give them to you, but the man became angry and swore that he would not give them to him. So the man said, "I was hoping that you would give me a summer. He said, "By Allah, they are more beloved to me than two summers." So the man said, "Then write to me with them." 'Adi said, "Have you not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'If one of you swears an oath, and then sees something better than it, let him do that which is better'? But I did not write them for you." So he wrote them for him.  

اكْتُبْ لَكَ بِدِرْعٍ وَمِغْفَرٍ فَتُعْطَاهُمَا فَتَسَخَّطَ الرَّجُلُ فَحَلَفَ عَدِيٌّ أَنْ لَا يُعْطِيَهُمَا إِيَّاهُ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ كُنْتُ أَرْجُو أَنْ تُعْطِيَنِي وَصِيفًا فَقَالَ وَاللَّهِ لَهُمَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ وَصِيفَيْنِ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ فَاكْتُبْ لِي بِهِمَا فَقَالَ عَدِيٌّ أَمَا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا حَلَفَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَلَى يَمِينٍ فَرَأَى خَيْرًا مِنْهَا فَلْيَأْتِ الَّذِي هُوَ خَيْرٌ» مَا كَتَبْتُ لَكَ بِهِمَا قَالَ «فَكَتَبَ لَهُ بِهِمَا»
