[Machine] "Mus'ab al-Ghamidiyyu, from the people of Homs, was a companion of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. He was known for his bravery, assistance, and generosity. He was the one who defended Hayt and Al-Anbar during the days of Ali by killing and capturing the enemies. He was among those who killed Hassan ibn Hassan al-Bakri, the brother of Harith ibn Hassan al-Wafidah, who came to the Prophet, peace be upon him, with Qaylah bint Makhramah. Ali proposed to her, saying in his proposal, "Indeed, the brother of Ghamid has defended Hayt and Al-Anbar when he was in the army during the days of Mu'awiyah. Mu'awiyah used to boast about his army, claiming that he had one thousand strong warriors with him." After Mu'awiyah, Ibn Mas'ud al-Fazarah was then chosen for this task. It was said, 'Establish, O Ibn Mas'ud, a canal like the one that Sufyan ibn Awf used to establish.' And smear, O Ibn Mas'ud, the walls of Madain Qaysar as Sufyan ibn Awf used to do. Sufyan is a nobleman from the Qurum tribe of the Taym people, and no one from among the people can match him in his generosity."  

وَسُفْيَانُ بْنُ عَوْفٍ الْغَامِدِيُّ مِنْ أَهْلِ حِمْصٍ صَحِبَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ لَهُ بَأْسٌ وَنَجْدَةٌ وَسَخَاءٌ وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَغَارَ عَلَى هَيْتَ وَالْأَنْبَارِ فِي أَيَّامِ عَلِيٍّ فَقَتَلَ وَسَبَى وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ قَتَلَ حَسَّانَ بْنَ حَسَّانَ الْبَكْرِيَّ أَخَا الْحَارِثِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ الْوَافِدَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَعَ قَيْلَةَ بِنْتِ مَخْرَمَةَ فَخَطَبَ عَلِيٌّ وَقَالَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ إِنَّ أَخَا غَامِدٍ قَدْ أَغَارَ عَلَى هَيْتَ وَالْأَنْبَارِ وَكَانَ عَلَى الصَّوَائِفِ فِي أَيَّامِ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَكَانَ مُعَاوِيَةُ يُعَظِّمُ أَمْرَهُ وَيَقُولُ إِنَّهُ كَانَ يَحْمِلُ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ الْوَاحِدِ عَلَى أَلْفٍ قَارِحٍ وَاسْتَعْمَلَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بَعْدَهُ عَلَى الصَّوَائِفِ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ الْفَزَارِيَّ فَقِيلَ [البحر الطويل] أَقِمْ يَا ابْنَ مَسْعُودْ قَنَاةً صَلِيبَةً كَمَا كَانَ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عَوْفٍ يُقِيمُهَا وَسُمْ يَا ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ مَدَايِنَ قَيْصَرٍ كَمَا كَانَ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عَوْفٍ يَسُومُهَا وَسُفْيَانُ قَرْمٌ مِنْ قُرُومِ قَبِيلَةٍ بِهِ تَيْمٌ وَمَا فِي النَّاسِ حَيٌّ يَضِيمُهَا
