[Machine] We used to say that there is no repentance for anyone who abandons their religion after embracing Islam and having knowledge of it. Then Allah revealed in them [the Qur'an]: "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah." [Az-Zumar 53]. So I wrote it with my own hand and sent it to Hisham ibn al-Aas ibn Wael. He read it out loudly and then mounted his camel and followed Abdur Rahman bin Bashir, who denied the hadith, to the city.  

الحاكم:٥٠٥٤حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

كُنَّا نَقُولُ مَا لِأَحَدٍ تَوْبَةٌ إِنْ تَرَكَ دِينَهُ بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِ وَمَعْرِفَتِهِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِمْ {يَا عِبَادِي الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ} [الزمر 53] فَكَتَبْتُهَا بِيَدِي ثُمَّ بُعَثْتُ بِهَا إِلَى هِشَامِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ فَصَاحَ بِهَا فَجَلَسَ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ ثُمَّ لَحِقَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ عبد الرحمن بن بشير منكر الحديث
